SURFACE PREPARATION
Remove dust, dirt, and debris using stiff brush or broom. Remove
rust or scaling with wire brush. Tighten or replace loose fasteners.
Remove any loose or failing coatings. Remove any loose or failing
concrete or stucco.
Apply with trowel, putty knife or stiff brush, working into seams,
cracks around fasteners. For best results in cold weather, store
in heated room before using. DO NOT apply direct heat to container.
NOTE: It is recommended for seams up to 1/2" wide. Protecta-Sealer
can be used in junction (conjunction???) with fiberglass or polyester
fabric for improved strength or flexibility. Apply Protecta-Sealer
to a smooth even finish, leaving no voids or edges.
APPLICATION
Protecta-Sealer is ready for use as it comes from the container.
Do not thin. In cool weather, material may thicken, requiring warming
by interior storage. DO NOT HEAT! Apply coating only to dry surfaces.
Protecta-Sealer may be applied by spray, brush, or roller. For spray
application, use a 0.030-0.035 orifice. Applied most effectively
by air, gasoline, or electric-powered airless spray units such as
Graco Model 733 or Speedflo HydraM 4000. Equivalent equipment from
other manufacturers may also be used.
Clean up equipment with mineral spirits.
Apply when temperature is 40°F and rising. Wash-off resistance is
dependent on temperature . . . 3-4 hours at 70°F, 12 at 40°F. Do
not apply over moisture or frost.
COVERAGE RATES
Apply at a rate of 2 gallons per 100 square feet in two coats, allowing
the first coat to cure. Additional coats are recommended for badly-torn,
pin-holed, or sun-burned single-ply membranes.
* Consult the Technical Department for information on application
over smooth built-up roofs.
