An oil-base, elastomeric roof coating containing Safe solvents and combinations of plasticizers, pigments, and modifiers in an oil binder. Protecta-Ply is a creamy white (or pastel) material providing excellent water, U.V. and mildew resistance. Protecta-Ply can be compliant with all existing VOC regulations.

Apply to any new and existing roof systems, including metal, conventional built up roofs, shingles, urethane and polyurethane foam, modified bitumen, EPDM, and single-ply membrane. Elastomeric characteristics prevent alligatoring, and the high reflectivity minimizes roof deterioration.

AREAS OF USE

SURFACE PREPARATION

All surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of oil, grease, or other contaminants. Power washing is recommended. All loose seams or tears should be sealed with Protecta-Sealer and coated with coating. On black surfaces, allow the first coat to cure for three days before top-coating with last coat.

APPLICATION

Protecta-Ply is ready for use as it comes from the container. Do not thin. In cool weather, material may thicken, requiring warming by interior storage. DO NOT HEAT! Apply coating only to dry surfaces.

Protecta-Ply may be applied by spray, brush, or roller. For spray application, use a 0.030-0.035 orifice. Applied most effectively by air, gasoline, or electric-powered airless spray units such as Graco Model 733 or Speedflo HydraM 4000. Equivalent equipment from other manufacturers may also be used.

Clean up equipment with mineral spirits.

Apply when temperature is 40°F and rising. Wash-off resistance is dependent on temperature . . . 3-4 hours at 70°F, 12 at 40°F. Do not apply over moisture or frost.

COVERAGE RATES

Apply at a rate of 2 gallons per 100 square feet in two coats, allowing the first coat to cure. Additional coats are recommended for badly-torn, pin-holed, or sun-burned single-ply membranes.

Our products are palletized according to the following quantities:

5 Gallon Pails	-	36 per pallet
1 Gallon Pails	-	45 cases per pallet
Sealer	-	1, 5, or 55 gallon pails

Coatings may be packaged in 55 gallon drums

All freight is shipped collect, but is allowed pre-paid on advance arrangements. All freight charges are based on shipment from our plants.

STORAGE

Store product with lid tightly sealed to prevent material evaporation. Do not store product near heat or open flame. The product will have a shelf life of one year, if the container has not been opened.

Note: Before applying Protecta-Products, be sure that the surfaces to be coated are structurally sound and that proper surface preparation has been completed.
