Protecta-Clear is a flexible thermoplastic rubber with excellent adhesion to weathered fiberglass and glass skylight surfaces. When used with Protecta-Sealer, skylights can waterproof and rejuvenate for additional years of performance.

Highly weathered fiberglass skylights eventually develop opacity that, in effect, eliminates their value as "skylights". When this situation exists, and "hair" (or fibers) are showing, an application of Protecta-Clear coating will solve any moisture problems. Protecta-Clear coating has deep penetrating effect and is designed to provide a clear, long lasting, waterproofing film over weathered surfaces. Protecta-Clear coating is resistant to acid rain and many other industrial pollutants.

SURFACE PREPARATION

All surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of oil, grease, or other contaminants. Power washing is recommended. All loose seams or tears should be sealed with Protecta-Sealer and coated with coating.

* Power wash surface to remove dirt and dust. Be careful not to lift or cut through the skylight.
* Seal joints, flashing, and fasteners with PROTECTA-Sealer.


APPLICATION

Protecta-Clear is ready for use as it comes from the container. Do not thin. In cool weather, material may thicken, requiring warming by interior storage. DO NOT HEAT! Apply coating only to dry surfaces.

Protecta-Clear may be applied by spray, brush, or roller. For spray application, use a 0.030-0.035 orifice. Applied most effectively by air, gasoline, or electric-powered airless spray units such as Graco Model 733 or Speedflo HydraM 4000. Equivalent equipment from other manufacturers may also be used.

Clean up equipment with mineral spirits.

Apply when temperature is 40°F and rising. Wash-off resistance is dependent on temperature . . . 3-4 hours at 70°F, 12 at 40°F. Do not apply over moisture or frost.


COVERAGE RATES

Apply at a rate of 2 gallons per 100 square feet in two coats, allowing the first coat to cure. Additional coats are recommended for badly-torn, pin-holed, or sun-burned plastic dourer or skylights. Allow 1-2 weeks for full cure, depending on weather conditions.

Apply second coat as desired for increased protection.
